This is a painting created by Patty. It was painted on YUPO paper - a new synthetic surface that was created for the printing industry. Many artists enjoy painting on YUPO today because of the beautiful way the paint mixes on the surface of the paper because it is not absorbed into the paper and lays on the top. This is a lovely painting and beautifully demonstrates the possibilities of painting on YUPO.

PAINTING PEONIES
IN THE CLOUDS
We had a lesson in painting clouds one Thursday afternoon from Michelle on how to paint clouds. We projected a photograph on the computer monitor and proceded! I don't know which painting belongs to which person, so will label them next Thursday when they are here to identify them. This was a lot of fun and we should do clouds more often!

These are the final paintings of the crystal bowl project which was a lesson in lifting paint. We used the tutorial developed by Watercolor Workshop member Susan Roper. Thanks again, Susan, it was a great lesson. Our bowls were beautifully painted and everyone thought they learned a lot with this lesson.

TIMED VISUAL EXERCISE IN OIL - "TURNING LEAF" PAINTING
Rosie
Theresa
Barb
Rose
Yesterday, The Muses did a very interesting exercise in oil. We set up a still life in the middle of the room that looked pretty good from any angle and then covered it up. We had 2 wine glasses (different), and Turning Leaf wine bottle and 4 corks. After setting up our oil paint...s, etc., we uncovered the still life and stared at it for 10 minutes, trying to memorize the details, the spatial relationships, the shapes, and the colors the best we could. When the 10 minutes were up, we covered the still life and began the painting. We painted for 1 hour before we uncovered the still life. It was amazing how well everyone did. I am posting the WIP paintings after 1 hour. The finished paintings will be posted when completed.

Muses Visit the California Plein Air Impressionists Show at the Dayton Art Institute
On Wednesday, March 31st, we visited the Dayton Art Institute to view the California Plein Air Painters Show. It was spectacular! Such an impressive show! After the show we ate lunch at the Cafe Monet before leaving for home. We had a wonderful time and lunch was delicious, too. Our server was kind enough to take our picture.
